HL Deb 04 February 1998 vol 585 c118WA
The Countess of Mar

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether the new Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Vitamins and Minerals will be asked to review all the literature on the safety of Vitamin B6, including the 10,000 papers mentioned by Professor Arnold Beckett in the annex to his recent letter to the Chairman of the Committee on Toxicity, prior to the implementation of their proposed restrictions on the retail sale of Vitamin B6 supplements; and if not why not. [HL232]

Lord Donoughue

Data on the safety of Vitamin B6 have been reviewed on two occasions by the Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COT). The Government have no plans to ask the new ad hoc Expert Group to review the data.
