§ Angela EagleSince 1 May 1997,(a) no civil servants at grade 3 or above have resigned, (b) two senior civil servants have retired before pensionable age and, (c) a 644W number of senior civil servants have moved to different responsibilities as a result of the merger of the Department of the Environment and the Department of Transport which took place in June 1997. All the individuals concerned work for the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions.
