To ask the Secretary of State for Health if he will estimate the average daily number of cigarettes smoked by a person who has died from a tobacco-related illness. [64098]

In 1996 cigarette smokers in the United Kingdom consumed an average of 104 cigarettes a week, which equates to about 15 a day. Information is not available on the average daily number of cigarettes smoked by a person who has died from a tobacco-related illness.
