Friend the Member for Manchester, Central (Mr. Lloyd) on 14 December 1998, Official Report, columns 402–03, and to the written travel advice which he placed in the Library of the House. If asked, the Department advises all companies travelling to destinations about which there may be concern to contact the Foreign Office for advice about travel.

§ Mrs. Roche[holding answer 14 December 1998]: The Department did not receive a request from Granger Telecom for advice in respect of the safety of Granger's British staff working in Chechnya. Had such a request 583W been received, the Department's officials would have referred Granger Telecom to the Foreign Office for travel advice.
