To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for what reasons his Ministry conducts inspections of milk production. [63130]

The inspections are carried out to monitor compliance with the Dairy Products (Hygiene) Regulations 1995 as amended, which implement Council Directive 92/46/EEC and its subsequent amendments, laying down the health rules for the production and placing on the market of raw milk, heat treated milk and milk based products.
