HC Deb 28 April 1998 vol 311 cc87-8W
Mr. Jim Cunningham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what steps he is taking to ensure that small and medium sized firms carry out a full assessment of workplace hazards to women of child-bearing age, in accordance with the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1994. [39592]

Angela Eagle

All employers, including those responsible for small and medium sized firms are, amongst other duties, required by the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1992, amended in 1994, to assess the risks to workers, including women of childbearing age. Health and Safety Inspectors may, where appropriate, consider the adequacy of action taken during visits to firms.
