HC Deb 08 April 1998 vol 310 c372W
Mr. Tyler

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what steps are being taken by his Department to ensure that those traumatised through the death of a relative in a road crash are offered professional support to help treat post-traumatic stress. [38349]

Mr. Boateng

A range of services, including those which specialise in the treatment of post-traumatic stress, are available within the National Health Service. Decisions concerning the treatment required for particular patients remain the responsibility of the medical practitioner. Decisions are taken on the basis of a thorough and individual assessment, combined with evidence of the effectiveness of treatment.
