Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions what plans he has to review PPG6. [817]

Mr. Raynsford

We have no current plans to review PPG6, although we are concerned to apply it firmly and consistently, and to monitor its effectiveness. The Government is currently considering its response to the more detailed and specific matters raised by the Environment Committee's report on shopping centres.

Mr. Raynsford

We have no immediate plans to revise the current version of Planning Policy Guidance Note 1: General Policy and Principles which was published in February. As we introduce policies which will strengthen the planning system, such as our commitment to regional development, we will be considering how these should be promoted through national planning policy guidance.
