§ Mr. Vaz
To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions if he will make a statement on Government policy in respect of out-of-town shopping centres. [809]

§ Mr. Raynsford
The Government supports the objective of maintaining and enhancing existing centres and focusing retail development in existing centres to assist their regeneration. The Government is currently considering the recent report of the Environment Committee on shopping centres and will be publishing a response shortly.
