To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the total income of the Medicines Control Agency in each of the last three years broken down by each major source indicating separately(a) the direct and (b) the indirect contributions from pharmaceutical companies. [19688]

The total income of the Medicines Control Agency in the last three years was as follows:

The fee income was all from pharmaceutical companies and was received directly. Miscellaneous income includes some payments from pharmaceutical companies for the purchase of publications, provision of information, or attendance at seminars; it is not practicable to isolate the precise amounts.
