§ Mr. MaloneInformation on the number of national health service consultants suspended is only held centrally for those cases lasting more than six months and was not collected before 31 March 1995. For the period 31 March 815W 1995 to 31 December 1996 there were eight reported cases, all of which have been resolved. There are currently no reported cases of consultants under suspension lasting more than six months. Information on the total salary costs of consultants under suspension is not available centrally.
