HC Deb 10 March 1997 vol 292 c113W
Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what advice has been given to his Department by the Government Actuary about(a) the likely uptake and (b) the cost to his budget of introducing private partnership insurance for long-term care; and if he will place the figures and papers received from the Government Actuary in the Library. [19310]

Mr. Burns

The Government have made no estimates of the likely take-up of the partnership scheme; it is for individuals to decide whether or not to take out partnership insurance.

The possible public expenditure costs of the partnership scheme are considered in appendix 4 of the policy statement "A New Partnership for Care in Old Age", which was published today. The estimates of costs were produced by the department. No figures or papers were received from the Government Actuary.
