Mr. Hancock

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many training places have been offered to foreign military personnel over the last 10 years; and which countries were involved.[3268]

Records of the number of training places offered to overseas students are not maintained. According Falkland Islands to our records, the numbers of overseas students attending courses in the UK in the last 10 years are:

  • 1987–88: 4,844
  • 1988–89: 5,131
  • 1989–90: 4,734
  • 1990–91: 4,083
  • 1991–92: 4,229
  • 1992–93: 4,071
  • 1993–;94: 4,183
  • 1994–95: 4,170
  • 1995–96: 4,130
  • 1996–97: 3,793

These figures may include some non-military personnel including police and customs officials. Details of these are not held separately.
