§ Mr. FieldThe manifesto set out our objective of providing work incentives and reducing poverty and welfare dependency. The aim of the Department's review will be to develop a strategy by which we will modernise the structure and delivery of social security to
encourage independence, social cohesion and well being;develop an active welfare system which supports work, savings and honesty;help tackle effectively unjustifiable social and economic inequalities.
