§ Mrs. BrowningThe rule permitting such ingredients to be identified simply as "offal" in the ingredients list of products was removed when the Food Labelling Regulations 1996 were introduced on 1 July 1996. Since then, the type of offal used must be indicated. The Meat Products and Spreadable Fish Products Regulations 1984 prohibit the use of testicles of mammalian species in uncooked meat products.
