Member for Sunderland, South (Mr. Mullin) Official Report, column 588, the Government intend that new, consolidated television licence fee regulations will come into force from 1 April 1997. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State hopes to announce this month details of the changes to be effected in the regulations and the level of the licence fee also coming into force from 1 April. The regulations themselves will be laid before Parliament as soon as possible thereafter.
