§ Mr. TurnerTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list for each financial year from 1994–95 to 1997–98 the change in the level of grants paid to Wolverhampton metropolitan borough council by the Government due to changes in the formulae used for standard spending assessments since the 1993–94 distribution(a) expressed in pounds, (b) divided by the band D tax base for council tax setting and (c) as a proportion of that tax base and scaled by ratio of each tax band to band D. [17212]
§ Sir Paul BeresfordThe effect of changes of methodology in the formulae for the revenue support grant is approximated by the effect of such changes on the standard spending assessment. The SSAs are adjusted to be comparable with the SSA of the subsequent year. Changes in methodology also give rise to SSA reduction grant which reduces the effect of changes on council tax payers. The amounts for Wolverhampton are given.
