HC Deb 26 February 1997 vol 291 c275W
Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will inform family doctors in Wales that they should draw to the attention of their patients' possible entitlement to disability living allowance; and if he will make a statement. [16624]

Mr. Hague

Family doctors are independent contractors—responsible for providing general medical services only. However, family doctors have access to a wide range of information about possible entitlement to social security benefits through leaflets, which are available in both English and Welsh, and may if they wish bring these to the attention of patients.
