§ Mr. Robert B. JonesBritish Waterways' grant in aid allocation for 1997–98 is £50.89 million. This includes an extra £5 million in recognition of the backlog of maintenance. It is for the board of British Waterways to determine its priorities for maintenance and ensure the safety of the network.
