HC Deb 04 February 1997 vol 289 cc532-3W
Mr. Gareth Wardell

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the amount(a) spent by British Waterways on maintaining the Swansea canal and (b) received by British Waterways from the sale of water to INCO in Clydach, Swansea, in each of the last five years. [13315]

Mr. Robert B. Jones

It costs British Waterways £180,000 each year to maintain the canal, of which about half is met by income from the sale of water to INCO.
