§ Ms Glenda JacksonThe law does not require full re-tests in all cases. Testing stations have full instructions about what to do in different cases and the Department's Vehicle Inspectorate monitors compliance with those instructions and disciplinary action is taken where necessary. The maximum fees chargeable for MOT tests are prescribed and are subject to annual review but it is open to testing stations to charge less than the maximum if they wish to do so.
