HC Deb 18 December 1997 vol 303 cc285-6W
Mr. Rowlands

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what will be the change in each TEC budget for 1998–99. [20985]

Mr. Hain

The budgets of individual TECs for 1998–99 will not be known until finalisation of their business plans following negotiation next year. However, total funding for Government programmes delivered through TECs (including the TEC Management Fee, Training for Work allowances and other central costs) will decrease from £118.1 million to £110.1 million (6.8 per cent.) between 1997–98 and 1998–99.

Mr. Rowlands

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the programmes for TECs in Wales which will receive a reduced allocation in 1998–99. [20984]

Mr. Hain

The information requested is as follows:

Programmes delivered through TECs
£ million
1997–98 plans 1998–99 plans
Youth Training and Youth Credits 63.4 61.4
Education-Business Links 3.0 3.0
Training for Work 22.7 15.5
Business and Enterprise Support 10.4 7.5
Contribution to TEC Management Costs 7.5 7.1
The figures include Training for Work allowances and other central costs. The reduction in the Education-Business Links budget (£50,000) does not show in the roundings to the nearest £0.1 million.
