Mr. Gray

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many Series 3 Land Rovers have now been withdrawn from service with the Army; and if they have been disposed of. [21143]

Mr. Spellar

[holding answer 16 December 1997]: To date, 3,226 Series 3 Land Rovers have been withdrawn from service. Approximately 60 have so far been sold.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if the 110 Series Land Rover has an exhaust emission which meets current EU regulations. [21148]

[holding answer 16 December 1997]: The Trucks Utility Medium (High Specification) (TUM(HS)) 110 Series vehicles currently on order from Land Rover fully comply with current EU regulations.

[holding answer 16 December 1997]: I am not aware of any representations concerning exhaust emissions of Army Land Rovers being received.

[holding answer 16 December 1997]: There are no plans to extend the in-service life of the Series 3 Land Rover.

[holding answer 16 December 1997]: There are no Series 3 or 110 Land Rovers currently mothballed.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many 110 Series Land Rovers have been ordered by the Army; and how many have been delivered. [21145]

[holding answer 16 December 1997]: A total of 6,029 Series 110 vehicles designated as Trucks Utility Medium (High Specifications), TUM(HS) have been ordered from Land Rover. To date 2,565 have been delivered.
