To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) how long on average a person applying for entry clearance for settlement, who was interviewed in November 1997, waited for an interview, at each British post in the Indian subcontinent; and how long those applying for settlement in November 1997 may expect to wait before interview, at each British post in the Indian subcontinent; [20689]

(2) what was the staff complement of the people dealing (a) full time and (b) part time with migration and visa matters at each British post in the Indian subcontinent in (i) December 1995, (ii) June 1996, (iii) December 1996, (iv) June 1997 and (v) December 1997; and how many of these positions were vacant at each date; [20686]

(3) what has been the average period for which a position in the migration and visa staff at each British post in the Indian subcontinent, has remained vacant after a postholder has left over the last three years. [20687]
