HC Deb 09 December 1997 vol 302 c520W
Mr. Vaz

To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how much aid he plans to give to Rushey Mead School, Leicester, under the New Deal for Schools. [19177]

Mr. Byers

All LEAs will be entitled to bid, on behalf of the schools they maintain, for the £1 billion-worth of resources which remains to be allocated under the New Deal for Schools, in addition to the £83 million that has already been allocated in the first round of NDS. Bids will be considered on the same basis as in the first round; namely, cost-effectiveness, urgency, and how far they will raise educational standards.

If Rushey Mead School believes that it has a project that can be supported by NDS, I suggest that it discusses with Leicester City Council the possibility of including it in a future bid for NDS resources.
