§ Mr. ArbuthnotMain building was constructed in the 1950s. Many of its key services are now in urgent need of replacement and the accommodation falls far short of meeting today's needs. To correct these deficiencies requires a major programme of work that will provide a modern working environment, maximum utilisation of space and flexibility for the future.
The Department intends to examine private finance options for the redevelopment and subsequent operation of the building. In due course, we would expect to be inviting ideas for the scheme from potential private sector partners. I hope to be able to make an announcement on the way ahead within the next few weeks.
