To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) how much capital spending by (i) the private sector and (ii) the public sector in the current financial year(a) he projected at the time of the 1995 Budget and (b) he projects now in respect of projects under the private finance initiative; [41337]

(2) how much capital spending has so far been committed by (i) the private sector and (ii) the public sector for the current financial year in respect of projects under the private finance initiative. [41338]
