HC Deb 17 October 1996 vol 282 c1137W
Mr. Wallace

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what response he has given to representations made to him by the Hoy Action Group in respect of the siting of a core and cluster facility at Longhope, Orkney. [40433]

Mr. James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 16 October 1996]: The Scottish Office has responded to representations made on the action group's behalf of my right hon. Friend. The response indicated that Orkney health board's decision to locate the new facility at Longhope was reached after consultation with the local community and that, taking account of all relevant factors, the board's belief is that a site at Longhope will best address the community's needs in terms of service requirements and value for money.
