To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what guidance he has published to support local authorities in their efforts to meet the requirements of Agenda 21 arising out of the Rio treaty. [41161]

The Welsh Office has published advice and guidance on various issues relevant to sustainable development and to the involvement of local authorities in undertaking local Agenda 21 processes. Recent examples include "Planning Guidance (Wales): Planning Policy" and "A Working Countryside for Wales", and the Department is shortly to publish its "Environment in Wales", and the Department is shortly to publish its "Environment in Wales", fifth report.
