To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Employment how many students graduated from undergraduate-level higher education in(a) England and Wales and (b) London in (i) 1979–80, (ii) 1990–91 and (iii) 1995–96. [5277]

2 Data for 1979–80 are not available for Wales. In 1980–81 the percentage was 46 in Wales, while it was 43 in England.
3 Figures are not available for London on the same basis. In 1979, 43 per cent. of 15-year-olds in maintained schools in inner London continued full time in maintained schools or in further education, and 47 per cent. stayed on in outer London.
