HC Deb 05 November 1996 vol 284 c436W
Mr. Steen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will list the rules and regulations he proposes to repeal or amend by means of a reference to the Deregulation Committee before the end of 1996; and if he will make a statement. [1395]

Mr. Howard

The timetable for the laying of draft deregulation orders is a matter to be agreed between the Government and the Deregulation Committee, but we hope the Committee will receive draft deregulation orders on the following before the end of 1996Licensing Act 1964: simplifying procedures on liquor licence transfers; Gaming Act 1968: allowing payment by debit cards in casinos and bingo halls; Gaming Act 1968: allowing advertising for bingo, betting shops and on-site amusement with prizes machines; Licensing (Occasional Permissions) Act 1983: simplifying the procedures for, and extending the number of occasional permissions for, non-profit making bodies; Licensing Act 1964: allowing off-licences to obtain occasional licences.
