HC Deb 21 May 1996 vol 278 c157W
Dr. Spink

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he expects Her Majesty's inspectorate of pollution to complete its inquiries into the dumping of drums of uranium swarf at Poplar farm, Chelveston; and if he will make a statement. [29581]

Mr. Clappison

HMIP has been incorporated in the new Environment Agency. I am informed by the agency that it has reviewed the evidence gathered during the investigation by HMIP, but that it has not yet taken a decision on whether to bring a prosecution under the Radioactive Substances Act 1993. I have asked the agency for a further report on progress by the end of June, following which I will write to the hon. Member.
