§ Mr. Robin SquireThe Department provides factual information about grant-maintained status to schools and parents to help them look at the option in a balanced and objective way.
We provide this information primarily through publications, "Going GM" conferences, GM open days, and other support. Expenditure on all these activities in 1995–96 was some £0.6 million. The budget for GM schools' information for 1996–97 allows for spending up to a maximum of £0.9 million.
