§ Sir John Wheeler
Section 1 of the Civil Evidence Act 1995, which abolishes the rule against the admission of hearsay evidence in civil proceedings, does not extend to Northern Ireland. However, the Law Reform Advisory Committee for Northern Ireland is in the process of examining the rule against hearsay in Northern Ireland and a report containing its recommendations is expected to be published shortly.
