To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the availability of telephone communications to the United Kingdom and Germany for British service personnel in Bosnia giving(a) a list of the locations where telephones are available, (b) the number of calls that can be made by each service man and (c) the price charged for such calls. Telephones are available for calls to the UK and Germany at the following locations:

  1. (a) Tomislavgrad
  2. (b) Bugojno
  3. (c) Lipa
  4. (d) Gornji Vakuf
  5. (e) Vitez
  6. (f) Sipovo
  7. (g) Mrkonjic Grad
  8. (h) Kupres
  9. (i) Jajce
  10. (j) Jezero
  11. (k) Sanski Most
  12. (I) Glamoc
  13. (m) Banja Luka
  14. (n) Sarajevo
  15. (o) Kiseljak
  16. (p) Split

Service personnel are not limited in the number of calls that they may make.

Where personnel are charged for telephone calls, the per minute prices vary from 75p to £1.20, depending on the system. A monthly welfare telephone allowance is payable towards the costs.
