I visited Theatr Clwyd on Wednesday 28 February.

Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will make representations to(a) Welsh and (b) English local authorities in the vicinity of Theatr Clwyd to make additional contributions to the running costs of Theatr Clwyd, Mold. [18917]

Mr. Hanson

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what further discussions he intends to undertake with Flintshire, Denbighshire, Wrexham and Abercolwyn/Conwy councils regarding the future funding of Theatr Clwyd, Mold. [19479]

Mr. Gwilym Jones

In his letter to the leader of Flintshire county council offering a one-off grant of £1.3 million to discharge Theatr Clwyd's outstanding capital debt, my right hon. Friend made it clear that he was looking to Flintshire to undertake urgent consultations with local authorities in the area, and any other interested parties, with a view to securing financial support for the running of the theatre. This responsibility rests with Flintshire county council.
