To ask the President of the Board of Trade what measures he is taking to improve the management of inward investment inquiries and the delivery of projects on Merseyside. [18842]

[holding answer 4 March 1996]: The Department of Trade and Industry supports the work of INWARD, the north-west's regional development organisation, in handling inward investment inquiries throughout the region, including Merseyside. In addition, the Government office for Merseyside is working with local partners, including INWARD, to develop and agree an inward investment strategy for Merseyside aimed at improving the region's inward investment performance.
