§ Mr. Gwilym JonesThe Government are committed to the protection of the countryside generally and to high quality landscapes in particular, while providing for the growth of telecommunication systems and renewable energy sources. Policy guidance to local planning authorities on these matters is contained in planning policy guidance note 8 "Telecommunications" and note 22 "Renewable Energy". The regulation of overhead electricity lines is a matter for my right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade.
