Ms Hodge

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department what was the cost of staff employed full time or part time (i) to provide information and publicity and (ii) to work on the press and media in(a) 1995–96, (b) 1994–95 and (c) 1993–94. [39408]

Mr. Streeter

The cost of staff employed full time and part time providing information and publicity and working on the press and media in 1995–96 was £207,994; in 1994–95 was £232,204; and in 1993–94 was £203,390.

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department how many staff are assumed, in his Department's budget, employed (i) full time and (ii) part time,(a) to work on press and media and (b) to provide information and publicity in 1996–97. [39467]

Mr. Streeter

Ten full-time staff and one part-time member of staff are assumed in my Department's budget employed to work on press and media, and to provide information and publicity in 1996–97.
