HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 c496W
Mr. Trickett

To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage if she will make a statement on the financial future of the Manchester velodrome following the threat of legal action between the British Cycling Federation and its former president; and what contingency plans the Government have in place to protect the future of the velodrome. [39136]

Mr. Sproat

The Manchester velodrome is protected by being operated by a separate legal entity—Manchester Velodrome Ltd. This company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the British Cycling Federation. The Sports Council has entered into a formal agreement with Manchester Velodrome Ltd. which requires the operational and accounting records of the company to be kept clearly separate from the records of any other activities of the British Cycling Federation and its associated companies and any related organisations, and that all transactions between these parties is to be on a full commercial basis.
