To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what assessment he has made of the factors preventing a regular through train service from Birmingham to Manchester airport. [39401]

None. The level of service on a particular routes is a matter for the train operating units and, where appropriate, the franchising director.

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what plans the Government have to support a bid for European funding for a multi-modal transport interchange at Manchester airport. [39400]

Departmental and airport company officials will be meeting to discuss the company's plans and how they might best be packaged.
