To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) what percentage of people who are economically active and who have a degree, in each ethnic group, are unemployed; [38758]

(2) what percentage that is of the total unemployed; and if he will provide a breakdown by ethnic origin; [38768]

(3) how many people, broken down by ethnic origin, who did not gain a higher education qualification are currently unemployed; and what is that figure as a percentage of the total unemployed; [38760]

(4) what percentage of the total unemployed in each ethnic group (a) have a degree and (b) do not have a higher education qualification; [38702]

(5) what percentage of people who are economically active and who do not have a higher education qualification, in each ethnic group, are unemployed.[38703]

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are the current figures for unemployment among the under 25-year-olds in terms of(a) actual numbers, (b) percentage of total unemployment, (c) percentage of the under 25-year-old work force and (d) percentage of the under 25-year-old population. [38763]

Latest information available from the labour force survey shows that in Great Britain in spring—March to May—1996, 658,000 people aged 16 to

(2) how many and what percentage of the economically active under 25-year-olds in each ethnic group are unemployed. [38764]

The latest information available from the winter 1995–96—December 1995 to February 1996— labour force survey for Great Britain is given in the table.

24 were ILO unemployed. This represents 29.1 per cent. of total ILO unemployment, 14.8 per cent. of those aged 16 to 24 who were economically active—the ILO unemployment rate—and 10.5 per cent. of the 16 to 24-year-old population.

(2) what are the current unemployment figures for economically active people aged under 25 years who did not have a higher education qualification and who had been a full-time student or pupil the previous year in terms of ethnic origin; [38761]

(3) how many economically active people aged under 25 years who did not have a higher education qualification and who had been a full-time student or pupil the previous year are currently unemployed; and what is this figure as a percentage of (a) total unemployment, (b) total unemployment among under 25-year-olds and (c) the total work force of under 25-year-olds who did not have a higher education qualification and who had been a full-time student or pupil the previous year; [38766]

(4) what percentage of the work force in each ethnic group, who are economically active, aged under 25 years without a higher education qualification and had been a full-time student or pupil the previous year, are currently unemployed. [38767]
