§ Mr. WilkinsonTo ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the aggregate of the United Kingdom's net contribution to the European Union for the past four years; what average annual percentage increase this represents; what is the estimated aggregate net British contribution for the next four years; and what is his estimate of the average annual percentage increase for this period. [37677]
§ Mrs. Angela KnightThe UK's net contribution over the four years from 1992–93 to 1995–96 amounted to nearly £10 billion, excluding private sector receipts of perhaps £1 billion or more. Estimates covering the whole of the next four-year period are not yet available. Percentage variations fluctuate enormously from year to year depending both on which years are chosen and on the method of calculation.
