To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster how many civil servants have been seconded to the European Commission and to which directorates in each of the last five years. [38690]

For the past five years around 100 United Kingdom and Northern Ireland civil servants have been on secondment to the European Commission as national experts at any given time. The total number of secondees in post at the end of each of the last four years, together with the current figures, broken down by directorates general, are as follows:
