HC Deb 24 July 1996 vol 282 c372W
Mrs. Dunwoody

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will require air travel organisers' licence holders to ensure that all aircraft which they charter meet the United Kingdom standards of United Kingdom passenger liability insurance. [39360]

Mr. Bowis

No. My Department already requires evidence of adequate insurance to meet potential liabilities before granting permission for foreign aircraft to operate passenger services to and from the United Kingdom. However, the liability of air carriers in the event of loss or accident is a matter for each contracting state to determine in respect of its own carriers subject to minima, agreed internationally under the Warsaw convention.
