To ask the Secretary of State for Transport (1) how many temporary speed restrictions were notified by Railtrack's weekly operating notices to Regional Railways North East in the period(a) April to June 1994 and (b) April to June 1996; [35880]

(2) how many temporary speed restrictions were in place on tracks used by Regional Railways North East passenger services on 1 April 1994 and how many are in place currently; and if he will list the locations and nature of each of the temporary restrictions at these dates. [35879]
