HC Deb 08 July 1996 vol 281 c23W
Ms Lynne

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, (1) pursuant to his answer of 30 AprilOfficial Report, column 503, on pre-payment prescription certificates, what research his Department has undertaken to identify the costs of administering a weekly instalment system for pre-payment prescription certificates; [35377]

(2) what measures his Department is taking to publicise the availability of pre-payment certificates for prescriptions.[35458]

Mr. Malone

None.

We propose to amend current regulations later this year to allow community pharmacists who wish to do so to sell prescription prepayment certificates directly to patients. At present, patients must apply to a health authority. We will take further steps to publicise the availability of prepayment of certificates once this change has been made.
