§ Mr. MacleanAn appropriate adults review group was set up in 1994 in response to a recommendation of the royal commission on criminal justice. The group reported last year. The Home Office is consulting the Association of Chief Police Officers before issuing guidelines to the police service in response to the report. The review group did not recommend an extension of the role of appropriate adults.
