On what date the Department of Health was first consulted about the proposals for lone parents announced in the Social Security Uprating Statement on 29 November 1995.

Discussions with the Department of Health, about a range of possible benefit changes, take place on an ongoing basis, as and when necessary. The cost implications for the Department of Health, of changes to lone parent benefits announced in the Social Security Uprating Statement on 29 November 1995, were assessed as negligible.
