To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security what action his Department is taking to improve the average clearance time at child support appeal tribunals. [9103]

In conjunction with the independent tribunal service, we are continually looking for ways to improve the clearance time on appeals. For example, the Child Support Agency has set up a central unit to deal with appeals which in the second half of 1995 processed twice as many appeals as in the first half.
